Es veroffentlicht Beitrage aus einem breiten Spektrum von Spezialgebieten, wie Dermatovenerologie, Allergologie, Phlebologie, Dermatochirurgie, Dermatoonkologie und Dermatohistopathologie. Das JDDG dient vorwiegend der deutschsprachigen Dermatologenschaft in Klinik und Praxis und erscheint daher in der Print-Ausgabe komplett in deutscher Sprache. Um die deutschsprachige Dermatologie einer internationalen Leserschaft zuganglich zu machen, werden Originalien, Übersichtsartikel und Facharztwissen in der Online-Ausgabe in englischer Sprache publiziert. Oberstes Ziel ist die hohe fachliche Qualitat der Beitrage, die durch ein strenges Peer-Review-System gewahrleistet werden soll. Ein besonderes Anliegen fur Herausgeber und Verlag ist die Einhaltung sehr kurzer Publikationszeiten. Daruber hinaus bietet das JDDG einen umfangreichen Leser-Service mit berufs-relevanten Informationen zu Fort- und Weiterbildung, einem aktuellen Kongresskalender sowie Buchbesprechungen und Gesellschaftsnachrichten.
